Hello friends(: I’d like to share something I came across that provoked me to examine myself…Check it out!
In this 3 part series titled, “Comparison trap” by Andy Stanley, part 1 talks about how comparing ourselves to others affects us negatively.
It is human nature for us to want to compare ourselves to others, but there is no win in comparison. -Andy Stanley
New International Version (NIV)
4 And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
To sum it all up, Andy explains that it is better to be fulfilled with what we are able to achieve after we have given it our all than to always feel the need to be better or the best. As long as we are alive there will always be someone that is more beautiful, wealthier, smarter, faster, etc.…than we are. We can’t allow what others have stop us from enjoying what we have. Not saying for us to stop trying to be the best that we can be. Just saying that to always want to “be better than the Joneses” deprives us from enjoying life to the fullest.
Proverbs 14:30 (New International Version)
30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
We all have our own unique fingerprint and nobody can take that away from us.
One of my favorite quotes: Just do what makes you happy. Do you!
? Let’s take some time to celebrate us!
Think about it…
On to part two of this teaching…(;
